Trézor.io/Start® | Starting Up Your Device | Trézor®

Welcome & Quick Overview

Welcome to your guided start-up for Trézor devices. This short presentation walks you through safe first steps: unboxing, initializing, secure PIN selection, seed phrase backup, and basic troubleshooting. Follow each slide, keep your recovery seed offline, and only use the official start page at Trézor.io/Start.

Tip: Keep a pen and the provided recovery card close by when you begin.

HARDWARE CHECK — Unboxing & Inspection

What to look for

Verify package tamper-evidence seals and warranty stickers before opening. Inspect the device for visible damage and confirm the included accessories: USB cable, recovery card, quick start guide. If anything is missing or stickers look altered, stop and contact Trézor support through the official site.

Do not connect the device to a machine until you confirm packaging integrity.

INITIAL CONNECTION

Connecting Safely

Use the included USB cable to connect the device to your computer. Open your browser and go to Trézor.io/Start (type it manually). Avoid search links. The official page will detect the device and guide firmware checks and installation of the Trezor Suite or web setup steps. Always follow on-device prompts — never trust prompts that appear only on your computer screen.

FIRMWARE & AUTHENTICITY

Checking firmware and authenticity

The first initialization typically checks firmware integrity. Approve firmware installs on the device screen only after verifying the signatures the official interface shows. This protects against tampering. If authenticity checks fail or the device behaves unexpectedly, disconnect and contact official support.

Never install third-party firmware or accept unknown signatures.

PIN CREATION

Choose a strong device PIN

Select a PIN that is long and not easily guessable. The device will show a randomized keypad for entry to prevent keylogging. Memorize the PIN and avoid storing it digitally. If you forget your PIN, you must use your recovery seed to restore funds to a new device — the PIN cannot be recovered.

RECOVERY SEED BACKUP

Write it down offline

When prompted, the device will generate a recovery seed (list of words). Write these words legibly on the supplied card — do not photograph or store them electronically. Store the card in a safe place (ideally a secure physical location or safe). This seed is the single point of restoration for your wallet.

Consider a metal backup for long-term durability.

ACCOUNT SETUP & SOFTWARE

Install Trezor Suite

Install Trezor Suite from the official site for a full-featured experience. Use the suite to create accounts, manage multiple cryptocurrencies, and check device health. Confirm app signatures and avoid third-party wallet apps unless you understand the security tradeoffs.

SEND & RECEIVE BASICS

Transact securely

Always verify the receiving address on the hardware device screen before approving a send. The device display is the ground truth; a compromised computer could show a different address. For first transactions, send a small test amount to confirm end-to-end correctness.

MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING

Keep firmware updated

Periodically check for firmware updates and apply them only through the official interface. If the device fails to connect, try a different cable or USB port and reboot both host and device. If problems persist, consult Trézor’s official support pages or community resources before attempting risky fixes.

FINAL CHECKLIST & BEST PRACTICES

Summary checklist: confirm packaging integrity, update firmware via the official start page, choose a strong PIN, write the recovery seed offline, verify addresses on-device, install Trezor Suite from Trézor.io, and store backups securely. Keep software up-to-date and never share your seed or private keys with anyone.
